Twilight

by Stephenie Meyer

Chapter 1 [FIRST SIGHT] p. 10
It looked like clouds and a sense of humor didn't mix. A few months of this and I'd forget how to use sarcasm.

Chapter 2 [OPEN BOOK] p. 16, 22
I made the Cowardly Lion look like the terminator.

They were enjoying the snowy day, just like everyone else − only they looked more like a scene from a movie than the rest of us.

Chapter 4 [INVITATION] p. 43
Stupid, shiny Volvo owner.

Chapter 5 [BLOOD TYPE] p. 48
He looked down, and then glanced up at me through his long black lashes, his ocher eyes scorching.
“Please?” he breathed, leaning toward me.
[that's low...]

“No spiders?”
“Nope.”
“And no radioactivity?”
“None.”
“Dang,” I sighed.
“Kryptonite doesn't bother me, either,” he chuckled.

Chapter 8 [PORT ANGELES] p. 79,88
Stupid, unreliable vampire

“You are a magnet for trouble. If there is anything dangerous within a ten-mile radius, it will invariably find you.”
“And you put yourself into that category?” I guessed.
His face turned cold, expressionless. “Unequivocally.”

Chapter 9 [THEORY] p. 100
About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was part of him − and I didn't know how potent that part might be − that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

Chapter 10 [INTERROGATIONS] p. 110
“Of all the things about me that could frighten you, you worry about my driving.”

Chapter 11 [COMPLICATIONS] p. 113
internally cursing Jessica straight to the fiery pits of Hades.
[and then I knew this was the best book ever!!]

Chapter 13 [CONFESSIONS] p. 140
“I'm here... which, roughly translated, means I would rather die than stay away from you.”

Chapter 14 [MIND OVER MATTER] p. 154
I pulled on my holey t-shirt and gray sweatpants. Too late to regret not packing the Victoria's Secret silk pajamas my mother got me two birthdays ago, which still had the tags on them in a drawer somewhere back home.

Chapter 15 [THE CULLENS] p. 165,166
It was hard to decide what to wear. I doubted there were any etiquette books detailing how to dress when your vampire sweetheart takes you home to meet his vampire family.

“And you're worried, not because you're headed to meet a houseful of vampires, but because you think those vampires won't approve of you, correct?”

Chapter 16 [CARLISLE] p. 180
I rolled my eyes. “Vampires like baseball?”
“It's the American pastime,” he said with mock solemnity.

Chapter 17 [THE GAME] p. 185, 186
“You said last night that you weren't interested in any of the boys in town.” But he picked up his fork again, so I could see the worst was over.
“Well, Edward doesn't live in town, Dad.”

“So I hear you're getting my girl to watch baseball.” Only in Washington would the fact that it was raining buckets have no bearing at all on the playing of outdoor sports.

Chapter 24 [AN IMPASSE] p. 247, 249
“I'm hardly a lottery prize,” he growled.

“Oh, you'll get over it − it's just a crush.”

EPILOGUE [AN OCCASION] p. 253
"This looks like a horror movie waiting to happen," I snickered.
"Well," he muttered (...) "there are more than enough vampires present." (...)
"Do you want me to bolt the doors so you can massacre the unsuspecting townsfolk?" I whispered conspiratorially.
"And where do you fit into that scheme?" He glared.
"Oh, I'm with the vampires, of course."
He smiled reluctantly. "Anything to get out of dancing."
